Scorpio as a friend

Have you ever been frightened of a friend. I’ve had lots of Scorpio pals whom I’ve adored, but I’ve always been a wee bit wary of them. Even in a platonic friendship, Scorpios hold an emotional half Nelson over you, one way or another. They can also make you feel guilty, and if you’ve done something which you know won’t please them, you’ll worry and wonder exactly how they’re going to take it!

Nonetheless, if you have a Scorpio as a friend, you can be fairly sure that they will be a pal for ever and ever, as long as you play by the rules. As Scorpios belong to the quartet of Fixed signs, they need permanence within their relationships, and won’t like to chop and change. However, you must realise that if you are a very strong person yourself, it can be like living on a knife edge to have a Scorpio as a pal. There are going to be times when you won’t agree, and you can have a clash of wills as a result and before you say, ‘I can win this round’, go back into your blue corner and think again. It’s you who has to concede, if you want the relationship to continue. It’s no good coming out fighting with a Scorpio.

This is a good example of the Scorpio destructiveness, and the ability to close one chapter of his or her life, no matter how important it used to be. Once a Scorpio has taken against you for whatever reasons, no matter what you do, how nice or nasty you are, you will never regain that friendship. What’s more, you can be pretty sure that whenever your back is turned the Scorpio will be making subtly destructive comments about you, hinting about the possible skeletons in your closet. Scorpios can produce a powerful poison when they want to. Think of the sting in the Scorpion’s tail! A relationship can mean everything to the Scorpio, but the minute he or she feels let down, that will be it. You may as well forget it, pack up and go home, because you will never make your mate change his or her mind, and you’ll only make yourself unhappy if you try. Really wounded Scorpios can mail their ex-mates missives which can mangle, maim and mortify.

So, the friendship factor will be important for a Scorpio, but it can be over as quickly as it began and you won’t get as stable a friendship with a Scorpio as you would with any of the other Fixed signs, of Aquarius, Leo or Taurus. The emotionalism of being a Water sign has too intense an influence.

If you want to keep a Scorpio pal sweet you could do worse than to take him or her down to a wine bar, pub or social club. A Scorpio with a strong Mars will be enormously energetic and may enjoy doing things on water, such as sailing, swimming or skiing. But generally this is a sign that is quite self-indulgent, and Scorpios will love going to the ballet or the opera, and other ostentatious activities. They also like ghoulish, gruesome, grim and grisly get-togethers.

In fact, a good night out for a Scorpio will be knocking back a bottle of booze, ambling off to the opera, and then going home via the graveyard, preferably at the stroke of midnight, which as any Scorpio will tell you, is the witching hour and then they’ll like to pull their partner down behind a towering tombstone!

If you go out for the day with a Scorpio, take a warm woolly, because he or she will probably want to walk around a couple of crumbling churches, and they can be cold. This fascination isn’t usually for religious reasons, but simply so the Scorpio can soak up the age-old atmosphere, take in the tombs and discover who died when, and of what. Just remember to keep an eye out for a grey lady or two, or a knight from the days of old.
