Capricorn at home

THE SATURNINE setting is as traditional as can be. Capricorns get the collywobbles in flats that are futuristic, and like to abide in buildings that are Victorian at the very least. They need to have a sense of history in the homestead if they’re to be really happy.

A dream dwelling for this sign is a country cottage, creaking with age, and bursting with beams. But it’ll probably have a septic tank in the garden, and wandering woodworm. Capricorns don’t mind a bit of hardship, and can exist on bread and cheese, if they have to.

But whether it’s a country cottage or an Edwardian edifice, it’ll be comfy and cosy, tasteful and traditional. Like Taurus, Capricorns won’t lavish their lovely loot on furniture that will fall apart in two ticks. Instead, whatever they own will have been made to last and last, and last. If they’ve got the dough they’ll have lots of antiques, which are investments, but can be used in the meantime.

If you visit a Capricorn chum, and then pop off to your pal’s parents, you may see a certain similarity in the styles. Most Capricorns don’t stray far from the tried and tested, which could be what they grew up with. They may have the same kinds of carpets and curtains, or even knick-knacks taken from the parental pad. These reminders of home and halcyon days will make Capricorns feel safe and secure. They hate to break from any tradition.

Very often, the parents of a Capricorn end their days living with their child. Capricorns feel a real responsibility to their folks, and if one parent passes on, they’ll ask the other one to move in.

Capricorns like slightly sombre, sober shades, such as black, grey and white, although they’ll throw in the odd pretty hue to brighten things up a bit. Without doubt, the Capricorn will love the study best of all, or wherever he or she can work. Capricorns like to keep their noses to the grindstone even at home. He or she will relax by reading, sipping some sherry, listening to the stereo or even by just sitting still in silence.

Capricorns often potter about in their kitchens, but like to keep things simple. They’re not mad on gimmicks, and often prefer a spot of elbow grease to an electrical gadget. They enjoy cooking, and will probably invite you round on a Sunday, for a traditional lunch or tea. But don’t bowl up in your best bib and tucker expecting edibles that are outr6 or avant-garde. Instead, your taste buds will be tantalised with a traditional juicy joint and succulent spuds, or a terrific tea, with scones, shortbread and a superb sponge cake. Capricorns go for grub that they’re used to. They’ll consume cod and chips if that’s what they were brought up on and steer clear of anything slightly strange.

But Capricorns usually prefer to entertain their pals in the comfort of their own homes. It may mean they’re bombarded with the washing-up afterwards, but at least they won’t be bankrupted by the cost!
